Atlanta Journal-Constitution — Fraternal orders such as the Freemasons and the Elks have been around for ages but nowadays are aging and dying off.

So it’s no small feat that executive producers Jim Gavin and Peter Ockowere able to convince AMC - home to high-concept dramas such as “The Walking Dead,” “Preacher” and “Into the Badlands” - to give a series about a fictional so-called secret “Lynx” society set in Long Beach, Calif. a whirl. Called “Lodge 49,” the 10-episode series debuts at 10 p.m. on AMC August 6 and all 10 episodes are available  on AMC Premiere, an upgrade option for Comcast Xfinity and YouTube TV subscribers for an extra$4.99 per month. It was shot largely in metro Atlanta.

GEORGIA ENTERTAINMENT NEWS — Georgia studios Crafty Apes (visual effects) and Moonshine Post-Production (post services) have collaborated on the production of AMC Networks original series, “Lodge 49″ — the new series will debut on Monday, August 6 at 10pm EST.

Crafty Apes handled on-set supervision and all of the visual effects for the series. Moonshine Post handled real-time playback solutions, dailies and key deliverables for the project.

RAPID TV NEWS — Georgia-based studios Crafty Apes and Moonshine Post-Production have collaborated on the production of AMC Networks original series, Lodge 49.

Lodge 49 is a modern fable set in Long Beach, Calif about a disarmingly optimistic local ex-surfer, Dud (Wyatt Russell), who’s drifting after the death of his father and collapse of the family business. Dud finds himself on the doorstep of a rundown fraternal lodge where a middle-aged plumbing salesman, Ernie (Brent Jennings), welcomes him into a world of cheap beer, easy camaraderie and the promise of alchemical mysteries that may — or may not — put Dud on the path to recover the idyllic life he’s lost. The series was produced almost entirely in Georgia.

WXIA-11 Alive, “The A-Scene” — The DeKalb Entertainment Commission hosted a workshop for those interested in learning about live streaming, shout casting and e-sports.

VAIL DAILY — Alex Guthrie has a hit song called "Colorado," but when he takes the stage in Eagle as part of ShowDown Town on Thursday, July 26, it will be his first time performing in the state. 

ON TAP MAGAZINE, WASHINGTON D.C. — For more than 20 years, John Driskell Hopkins has crafted country music hits garnering worldwide praise and respect. Popularly known for his role as one of the founding members of the Grammy Award winning Zac Brown Band, Hopkins has many tricks up his sleeve that may come as a surprise to the occasional country listener. While on the road during their seventh tour, which stops in DC at the Nationals Park, Hopkins opened up to On Tap about his new John Driskell Hopkins Band, burdens of balancing his life, and his deep roots in performing that led to his self-proclaimed and widely accepted title of entertainer.

Well Alex Guthrie is now a rising star and is even opening for Smashmouth in Atlanta this week at the Coca-Cola Roxy. We talk to him about his music and career today on the A-Scene! 

WRIC-8 NEWS, RICHMOND — The kittens, both spayed females, are two-months-old. Cosima is black with a white patch, and Zander is a tabby. 

Tabitha Treloar with the Richmond SPCA says that black kittens have a tendency to stay longer at the adoption center. Treloar added that many of their fosters say that among the litter of kittens, the black ones are usually the most friendly and affectionate. 

Treloar also says that this Sunday, musician Alex Guthrie will give a free performance at the Richmond SPCA. Sweet Frog Mobile will be on site at 11:30 a.m. and music begins at noon. 

11 ALIVE, “THE A-SCENE” — Singer, songwriter, studio owner, and actor; John Driskell Hopkins is a man of many talents. He recently gave the A-Scene a tour of his awesome new studios. They feature an award cabinet stuffed with Grammy awards and CMA's, instruments, photos, platinum records, and a one of a kind bar etched with lyrics, and Hopkins shared his inspiration and some advice for young artists.
